Director of Training and Special Projects
Jen joined Ventures in April 2012
Jen oversees the design and delivery of a multitude of training programs at Ventures. This includes the foundational programming: Get Ready for Business Orientations and the eight-week Business Development Training. In addition, she works collaboratively with Ventures staff to identify and develop Advanced Trainings that move Ventures entrepreneurs forward in their businesses.
Joining Ventures has allowed Jen to have her feet in both the world of entrepreneurship and non-profits, two sectors she is very thrilled to be working in. She was attracted to the values of innovation, diversity, and collaboration amongst the staff from the beginning, when she started as the Office Manager and Volunteer Coordinator in 2012. Since then, her interest in working more with clients and program development has led her into her current position. She firmly believes that the people of Ventures. are truly the heart of the organization and continues to be inspired every day through the work Ventuers is doing in the community.
Jen has always been passionate about helping people realize their full potential through coming together for shared experiences. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Outdoor Leadership & Experiential Education with a minor in Business Administration from Western State Colorado University, she relocated to Seattle to put theory into practice. Starting out as a Program Designer for a corporate teambuilding company, she has seen transformation occur in teams through experiential processes all over the country. She found her passion for the non-profit sector after leading non-profit groups through team development processes and has since felt that mission driven work is her true calling. Jen brings skills in adult learning, program design & coordination, as well as facilitation to Ventuers and strives to create a culture of life-long learners.
Jen would love to open a retreat space in the Pacific Northwest where people from any background could come to be nourished and supported through the outdoors, writing, yoga, and supportive community. Her space would include a lovely library, lots of trees, saunas, meditation rooms, and family style cooking and dining.
Jen’s co-workers describe her: “Jen is passionate about serving entrepreneurs and helping them move their businesses forward. She believes in the unique potential of the people she serves and is great at drawing out client strengths and patiently guiding clients over obstacles.”
